Medical customised products cover a very wide range from bone replacement materials, implanted structures and devices, dental parts to surgical tools, personalised aids, and medical engineering devices. The project will chose four case study components from this branch for development of both, components and technologies. These components are (1) an Infra-Red (IR)-heater for supporting healing processes and for curing pain of parts of the body like neck, leg, shoulder or knee, (2) a spinal implant, (3) a knee implant, and (4) a gripper for minimally invasive surgery. A fifth demonstrator is attributed to a personalised jewellery component - a customised two-coloured ceramic watchcase.

All case studies were designed to comprehensively test and evaluate new materials, feedstocks, devices and processes.
